Like stepping into a time machine, the Red Truck Fiberglass Fly Rod will transport you to a simpler time. Whether you will find yourself boulder hopping the North Fork of the Yuba or casting dries to rising fish on Hot Creek you will appreciate the buttery action. The soft tip allows for a delicate presentation during the morning and evening hatch, while the powerful lower section of the comes in handy when casting large hopper dropper rigs or when that afternoon wind picks up.

The Fiberglass Fly Rod: While fiberglass is hardly a new material; we have improved traditional fiberglass by reducing weight and designing a versatile action.

    • The soft tip acts as a shock absorber protecting the lightest of tippets.

    • Fiberglass is incredibly durable making it the ultimate boulder hopping rod.

    • At 7 foot 6 inches this rod excels when fishing brushy creeks, pocket water, and small spring creeks.

    • The versatility of this rod is truly incredible. The soft tip allows for delicate presentations on spring creeks; while the powerful butt of the rod will effortlessly cast large hopper dropper rigs even when the wind picks up.

    • The ergonomic grip feels great and increases casting efficiency.

    • You can't help but smile when fighting on this rod.

    • Handcrafted and finished with the best components money can buy this rod looks and feels amazing in hand.

Recommended Reel:  A perfect match for the Red Truck Fiberglass fly rod is our Red Truck Diesel Fly Reel. Taking notes from the reels our grandfathers used this reel is durable, simple, and elegant.

    • The click and pawl drag system provides perfect amount of tension to protect light tippet and fight fish.

    • Machined from solid bar stock aluminum this reel will be appreciated for generations to come.

    • Whether you are pulling off line or hooked up on a fish this reel screams fly fishing.

Recommended Line:  Designed to be balanced with a double taper 4wt. This line enhances the feel and performance of your rod.

    Fish Camp Member Review:

Thought I would post a short review of the Red Truck Glass rod. I have had it for a few weeks now and have had a good chance to put it through it's paces.

When I first saw them for sale with Leland Fly Fishers, I wasn't ready to pull the trigger with them costing four hundred, and not being able to really find any info on them (here's that info). Well, luckily, one came up on a local secondary market and I grabbed it.

They only sell one glass rod and it is a 7.5 foot 4wt in 3 pieces. It is very well appointed. The blank is a transluscent tan/bamboo/light brown/caramel? (not sure what to call the color, but I really like it.) It has white solid glass spigots. Uplocking nickel hardware over a really nice piece of wood that blends well with the blank. It comes in a great yellow aluminum tube with black top and bottom, and a divided sock. Inside the cap for the tube is what they call the Brews-key, which is a bottle opener. Love this idea.

But the great thing is this rod. It is quick for glass, but VERY smooth. The tip has a beautiful flex and progresses into the butt, which is pretty slender for glass, but still has lots of reserve power. I am able to cast two feet of line with lots of feel with the tip and then haul out sixty feet as it gets into the butt power. It's real beauty though is found in what you would want for this configuration, at about fifteen to twenty five feet of line. It just seems to cast itself.

The grip on this is one I was really hesitant about (all those guys smack talk Leland grip shape). Not being able to give it a try before buying, I was not liking the look of the grip, but once I got it into my hand, I think it might be one of my favorites. It just positions everything so naturally.

Overall, I really like this rod. I just wish they would come out with some other configurations. I would love to have an eight foot five weight in this series.

Will post some photos when I get some taken. . .

    Red Truck Glass

For me fly fishing and fiberglass rod go hand in hand. I always prefer fiberglass rod over bamboo rods whenever I go fly fishing. I knew Leland is a trustable name when it came to fishing equipments, but I had never tried any of their fishing solutions. So this time I thought of getting a fiberglass rod from them. Now before I start describing the rod, I want to say something about the Leland staff. They are the best staff I have seen till date. Apart from being warm and friendly, the staff is exceptionally well-informed about fishing and various fishing equipments. They helped me settle for the right rod. Red Truck Glass – after 3 trips with this stick, now I understand why Red Truck is such a reliable brand. The rod is excellent, its length perfect and in spite of the length, the stability it provides is outstanding. More over being a three piece fly rod, it is easy to carry and store. Now I look forward to trying more of Red Truck products from Leland.

    Good Work

From the tapered grip that fits my smaller hands to the buttery yet crisp action this rod is hard to beat. Heck even the case is pretty looking. I wouid recommend to both my male and female fishing buddies.

Saw the review on this rod by Cameron of the Fiberglass Manifesto. Very nice action and asthetically a real beauty. Can't wait till Spring when I can put it to the test. Thanks for making a great rod that fit my budget.

Beautiful rod and very classy case, reel, and logo stuff. You guys are great!

    Really Responsive

The glass rod is really responsive. It blances so well with the line I was recommended. I really felt like it made me a better caster.

    One More Rod

The raw Fiberglass not only adds to the look and feel of this fly fishing rod, but it also adds to its efficiency. The ergonomic grip is a bonus that may give you an additional reason to purchase the rod. The casting efficiency of this fly fishing rod increased my love for the fly fishing sport. Purchasing this Red Truck Fiberglass fly rod at $395 turned out to be a perfect “value for money” decision for me. After using this perfectly balanced fiberglass fly fishing rod, I am all praises for this versatile fly fishing equipment and I strongly recommend that you purchase your Red Truck Fiberglass fly rod and try it out yourself.

Red Truck Fiberglass Fly Rod is a sophisticated, high quality fly rod and it made my fishing experience smooth and comfortable. This fly rod has a very soft tip which simplified my efforts, protects tippet and made my morning and evening hatches wonderful. The lower section of the rod is powerful and it proved to be very useful when I was casting large dry flies and longer distances. The rod contains 3 pieces which has been designed for backpacking and fits my pack perfectly.

    Sexy Glass

this chik loves this sweet and sassy stick..named her little honey. love the flowy buttery feel and the great delicate presentation. Also, she's great at handling big bucket mouths.. She has the brawn to get those fish out of the weeds! terrific aesthetics and love the grip, it makes you feel part of the rod. A very versatile rod and a dream to cast..thanks so much for pulling it off

    Great fiberglass rod....

Hi Keith,-- I'm in Mammoth Lakes for a month and the fishing is very good. I purchased the 4 wt fiberglass stick for this trip and it has become my go-to rod here. I love the soft action. After years of fishing with stiffer graphite, fiberglass is a revelation. I find it very easy to cast and distance is not an issue at all. But the real beauty is with fish on. There is so much more give and take between man and fish with this stick. It makes the experience so much more rewarding and adds a bigger dimension to fishing. The rod is an excellent value for its price, and it has far exceeded my expectations. Thanks Keith. Greg

    give us a review

Here you are: This is my first fiberglass rod and I am more than pleased that I chose Red Truck. The design and details of this rod evoke old faded pictures of fly fisherman past, yet it casts so smooth and easy that I don't know if I can go back to any of my other rods. The Diesel 3/4 reel is a perfect compliment in terms of fit and balance and it even sounds throwback when reeling in or taking out line. No detail was spared with this outfit and I feel like a kid on Christmas every time I take it out. I also think it's worth noting that this rod would be great for anyone just getting into fly fishing as it is so easy to cast. Thanks for such a great product. - Jordan Brandenburg

My son Paul just picked this as the first fly rod he ever selected all by himself . He is almost 10 and I got him a starter rod a couple of years ago. He saw this rod at the Fly Fishing Show and loved the design and color. He tried it out and cast it very well on his own. I cast it and loved it. It has a crisp medium action that reminds me of some of my bamboo rods--medium full flex and with an active tip. A very responsive rod for a new fly fisher. It was not a tough sell when he asked me if we could get it. We got the kit and love the reel, too. I can already see it will be hard to use it myselft because he likes it so much. A very classic outfit. We love it and can't wait to get it on the stream! .

    Glass Geek

To me fishing a glass rod is all about feel, and this rod feels Great! It's light weight, superb balance, and unique grip combine to make an accurate and effortless casting rod. It handles both a 4wf and 4dt ( my small stream favorite ) equally well. It also handles a 5wf in case you come across some wind or want to cast a larger fly like a hopper. Versatile taper lets you cast short off the tip or off the butt for a more powerful cast. This rod is just FUN!

    Fiberglass = Fun

Having fished a few glass rods back in the day I was skeptical at first but this rod is a perfect mix between classic action and power for those windy days. I would have no problem taking this as my only rod on a weekend trip in the mountains, it's that versatile! Also would make a great dry fly rod if your other rod is rigged for nymphing for the day.
