Spring creek trout fishing is arguably the most challenging genre of fly fishing. When educated, living in crystal clear water, have time to inspect your offering...all must be perfect. Casting with a longer leader can be a challenge, but our New Zealand Spring Creek rod was designed to efficiently "turn-over" these lengthy leaders, even at distance, then offer up the most subtle presentation possible. You'll still need a drag-free drift and the right fly, but step one is always getting your offering to the mark. That's exactly why our Spring Creek rod deserves to exist.

Each year I spend a week in Sun Valley and each year I would struggle with my five weight on my favorite spring creek on the planet. Got word that Leland made a dedicated spring creek fly rod...called the Spring Creek. That got me thinking, so I stopped by for a test cast. It's changed my experience on the water. I can now cast with a long leader and land my fly perfectly. It's a dream to cast. Better yet it's easily the best looking fly rod on the market. Good work Leland.

Fishing in spring creeks has always scared me. Either my cast would send the fish scurrying away, or the fly would pile and the fish would swim right by my offering. On a friend’s suggestion I went for a lighter rod. I was using my all around five weight. Leland’s Spring Creek fishing solution, which is a three weight, is what I picked up. After several trips I actually started to enjoy just casting to trout on spring creeks. It’s like Cave Man TV. The rod is light and stable. Every one of my cast seems to be better than the last one. Apart from brilliant performance, this rod looks outstanding. Any one searching for a good, reliant and stable fishing rod for creek fishing should surely give this equipment a try. I also started to catch fish!
